AGARTALA: Tripura State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) has received the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Certificate, making it the only center in Northeast India with this certification, which enhances protection against cyber threats. State's Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced this during TSECL's 22nd Foundation Day Thursday stating the certification is mandated by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) to secure computerized systems and the national power grid.
The SLDC underwent a System Surveillance Audit, after which non-conformities were addressed in areas such as biometric access control and physical security, leading to the awarding of the certificate by the Ministry of IT, Government of India. The Minister highlighted TSECL's history since its formation in 2004, noting significant advancements in the power sector over the years, including an increase in substations and power lines.
The Power Minister asserted that development hinges on power, with reforms in place to manage load shedding online, introduce smart meters, and allow for transparent billing. The current power demand is projected to rise significantly, with ongoing projects like a 120 MW combined cycle plant and an 800 MW pump storage project. Initiatives to restore the Gomti Hydro Electric Plant and expand solar energy coverage in hospitals and educational institutions were also outlined. Notably, plans for underground cable installations in Agartala have been completed, and drone technology is being implemented for fault detection.
