Bangladesh senior police officer dies in Congo mishap

Dhaka, May 6, 2019: In a tragic incident, a senior female police officer from Bangladesh killed in a road clash in Congo, officials said in Dhaka.
Rowshan Ara Begum, who was holding rank of additional inspector general of police, was in a peace keeping duty under the United Nations.
Officials said the collision between the vehicle carrying her and a lorry took place in capital Kinshasa on Sunday 6:30am local time. She and her companions were approaching to attend a Medal Parade of the Bangladesh Police Unit (BANFPU) when the mishap occurred.
The driver and two other passengers including Farzana, commander (SP), BANFPU, were not hurt in the accident.
Rowshan Ara Begum joined police in February 1988 and served in different positions.
