NATIONAL, July 27, 2025: Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh announced that the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite will enhance collaborations for the Indian Space Research Organisation. The mission is set to launch from Sriharikota on July 30.
NISAR will benefit not only India and the United States but also provide vital data for global needs, such as disaster management, agriculture and climate monitoring.
Dr Singh emphasised the mission's significance in demonstrating what two democratic nations can achieve together. NASA and ISRO have combined their technologies with NASA supplying the L-Band radar and ISRO providing the S-Band payload and launch services.
The satellite weighs 2,392 kilograms and will orbit the Earth every 12 days.
