TU VC Dr Dharurkar resigns over bribe charge

AGARTALA, September 7, 2019: Dr Vijaykumar Laxmikantrao Dharurkar, Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, has resigned after a local television channel conducted sting operation showing him negotiating and accepting bribes.
Sources said he put in paper after MHRD asked him to quit in wake serious allegations which hit the headlines across the country.
In an interim arrangement Dr Sangram Sinha, senior most faculty in the university, has been made as interim VC till MHRD makes a final selection.
Dr Sinha who was in Kolkata returned after Registrar of the varsity requested him to catch next possible flight.
Dr Dharurkar was to serve four more years in the position of VC, but allegations of financial corruption and irregularities cut short his tenure in the central university.
