Tripura CM says committed to women's empowerment, safety

AGARTALA, March 13, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said the state government is committed to women's empowerment and highlighted need for ensuring their protection. He stated that the current central and state governments are working to give women real respect and safeguard their safety and financial condition.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the state-level programme of International Women's Day organised at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala Thursday.
Internal Complaint Committees have been formed in all government and private offices to prevent sexual harassment of women at the workplace. The state government has also initiated multiple schemes to empower women with the Central Government and Tripura Government launching various schemes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the Chief Minister stated.
Dr Saha said that women are now driving the development of society and that the current state government is making all possible efforts for the overall development of women. Tripura is one of the states where only state where women-run police stations are established in all districts for the protection of women.
He also gave an outline of benefits, allowances and assistance provided to the deserted, destitute and poor women in the state.
The event was attended by women from all sections of society and officials from the Social Welfare and Social Education Department, Tripura Commission for Women and the Tripura Child Rights Protection Commission.
