Tripura CM says 99% villages in state now have access
10,83,000 bank accounts opened under the PM-Jan Dhan Yojana

AGARTALA, December 21, 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stated that over 99% of villages in the state now have access to banking services within a five-kilometre radius. Besides, a total of 10 lakh 83 thousand bank accounts have been opened under the PM-Jan Dhan Yojana.
The state government is actively working towards achieving 100% financial inclusion through various flagship schemes such as PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Atal Yojana, Mudra Yojana, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.
The Chief Minister made his speech at the North East Bankers Conclave which was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other ministers on sidelines of 72nd Plenary of the NEC here Saturday.
It is worth noting that every village in the state now has a banking touch point or outlet and ATM facilities are available in every district and block. The State Level Banking Committee of Tripura has been recognised with the Award of Excellence for the financial year 2021-22 under the Atal Pension Yojana scheme.
Likewise, the state has a total of 2,800 business correspondents who are playing a crucial role in promoting financial inclusion by providing banking services at low costs. All banks and micro-financial institutions are actively participating in providing Mudra loans to unemployed youths in the state.
It is important to note that the credit-deposit ratio is a key indicator of the state's economic development.
