NATIONAL, January 07, 2025: The Border Security Force Tuesday rejected claims that the Border Guards, Bangladesh (BGB) has taken control of a 5-km area of Indian land along the International Border. The BSF stated that these reports are baseless and that the area in question is located in Ranghat village, North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.
It confirmed that the International boundary runs along the Kodaliya River with established reference pillars. It denied reports of BGB troops the area with motorized boats and ATVs since December 19, labelling these as fabricated stories.
The BSF asserted that both the BSF and BGB continue to operate on their respective sides of the river, which serves as the border. It further stated that while the area is unfenced and vulnerable to smuggling and infiltration, strict measures have significantly reduced such attempts.
