Indian and Maldives reaffirm their commitment to work closely
Rajnath Singh and his counterpart reviewed defence cooperation

NATIONAL, January 08, 2025: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Maldives Defense Minister Mohammed Ghassan Maumoon held bilateral discussions in New Delhi Wednesday to review defence and security cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to work closely towards the India-Maldives Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership.
Singh reaffirmed India's readiness to support the Maldives in capability enhancement for defence preparedness, including provisioning of defense platforms and assets. Maumoon appreciated India's historical role as the 'First Responder' to the Maldives and thanked New Delhi for assisting in modern infrastructural capacities and the training of defense and security personnel.
India handed over defence equipment and stores to the Maldives upon request. This visit is part of ongoing high-level engagements between the two sides, aiming to deepen bilateral defence and security ties for mutual benefit.
