Tripura BJP to have a new state President in coming week

Final approval will come from central committee leaders

AGARTALA, February 22, 2025: The countdown for the selection of a new state president has begun with at least four names being considered for the post within the party circle.

This move was necessitated by the election of incumbent President Rajib Bhattacharjee to the Rajya Sabha. While the BJP has a policy of adhering to a 'one man, one post' rule, they have also made exceptions in the past.

A state leader said Saturday that final approval for the chosen candidate will come from New Delhi. The announcement is expected to be made within the coming week. 

The names of an incumbent minister in the state government and a former minister are being widely discussed as potential candidates for the next state president. However, sources suggest that the central leaders may surprise everyone by selecting a lesser-known leader.
