AGARTALA, August 05, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has taken cognizance of the tragic death of the truck driver following a mishap due to the alleged negligence of the rescuers Tuesday. The driver, a resident of Kanchanpur in northern Tripura, was stuck inside the vehicle for hours before he died because of his injuries.
The road accident occurred on the national highway at Chakmaghat in the wee hours Tuesday and emergency service team members reached the spot after being informed by witnesses. However, due to lack of equipment, including the iron cutter, they tried to rescue the driver manually.
A video clip circulating on social media shows the accident victim crying for help and even speaking to people who had gathered at the scene.
The driver was finally pulled out at around 9.30 am with help of TSR troops. However, he was dead by the time.
The Chief Minister in a statement said a probe was initiated in connection with the unfortunate incident and the concerned authorities have been directed to submit a detailed report at the earliest. “Appropriate action will be taken if any negligence is found on the part of any individual or authority”, he assured.
