Tripura’s disgraceful shocking results in Sikkim chess event

This poor performance highlighted the state's low standing

REGIONAL, October 25, 2024: Tripura had disgraceful results in a chess competition held in Sikkim failing to score any points. Only two players Gurupada Das and Sushil Chakraborty made some progress despite to the team's early defeat in the seven-round tournament. 

Four players from Tripura did not show up for the event causing embarrassment to the State Chess Association Secretary. This poor performance highlighted the state's low standing in eastern chess event.

Assam emerged as the tournament winner with 14 points followed by Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. The embarrassing incident marked a setback for Tripura's chess development with the lack of participation and poor results tarnishing the state's reputation in the sport.
