Tripura’s first in union cabinet Pratima Bhowmik arrives

AGARTALA, August 16 2021: Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik arrived here Monday in her first homecoming after getting berth in the union council of ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 7 cabinet reshuffle took her as a Minister of State in the Ministry of the Social Justice and Empowerment.
Thus the minister who won from the west Tripura constituency in 2019 Lok Sabha elections returned preciously after 40 days.
Party supporters in hundreds crowded at the MBB Airport to receive the leader – a BJP veteran. She was taken to the party office – some 12kms from airport – in a procession.
She was formally felicitated at the party office by senior office bearers including state President.
Speaking with newsmen she informed that the centre will soon set up a forensic academy in the state.
Pratima Bhoumik later met Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb at his residence. Informing the meeting Chief Minister tweeted that he hoped the union minister will meet expectations of the prime minister and discharge responsibilities entrusted upon her.
