New Delhi, 12 December 12, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the passing of Shivraj Patil Friday describing him as an experienced leader who devoted his life to public service.

In his message, the Prime Minister said he was saddened by the demise of Patil, who served the nation in various capacities—including as MLA, MP, Union Minister, Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and Speaker of the Lok Sabha—during his long and distinguished public life. Patil was known for his commitment to societal welfare and his steadfast dedication to democratic values.

The Prime Minister recalled his many interactions with Patil over the years, noting that their most recent meeting took place a few months ago when Patil visited his residence.

In separate posts on X, Modi wrote -

“Saddened by the passing of Shivraj Patil Ji. He was an experienced leader, having served as MLA, MP, Union Minister and Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly as well as the Lok Sabha during his long years in public life. He was passionate about contributing to the welfare of society. I have had many interactions with him over the years, the most recent one being when he came to my residence a few months ago. My thoughts are with his family in this sad hour. Om Shanti.”
