The CBI makes first arrest in NEET-UG paper leak probe
Scam was allegedly committed by an inter-state organised gang

NATIONAL, June 27, 2024: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Bihar Thursday arrested two people in connection with alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam. The two accused were arrested in Patna, Bihar and this is the first arrest by the CBI in the sensational case.
CBI took over the investigation from the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of Bihar police June 24. The EOU claimed that question papers were leaked from Hazaribagh centre in Jharkhand and distributed to suspected candidates by an inter-state organised gang.
The EOU conducted a raid on May 5 at Khemnichak School in Patna and seized half burnt NEET UG exam question papers. The CBI has also taken two accused, Baldev alias Chintu and Mukesh Kumar on remand for interrogation.
CBI team visited Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, to investigate NEET paper leak case. It interviews the school's Principal about the leak and detained him for further questioning.
The Principal was the city coordinator for Hazaribagh's schools for NEET examinations. The team also quizzed officials of SBI Hazaribagh branch.
