Security in Agartala beefed up in view of prevailing tension

AGARTALA, June 20, 2022: Former health minister and Congress candidate from Agartala constituency in upcoming assembly by-elections Sudip Roy Barman received injuries after some miscreants attacked him with stones and sticks. The incident occurred at Ujan Abhoynagar locality after midnight.

He was shifted to a private hospital after the attackers fled the scene.

Police have registered a case and launched drives to arrest the accused persons. It has been learnt that Barman went to the place after receiving information of a clash between supporters of rival political parties.

State youth Congress President Rakhu Das accompanied him to the incident spot, but the former minister did not take his security personnel.

Details of the incident are awaited.
