Stranded Tripura residents return from Bangladesh

AGARTALA, May 28 2020: As many as 129 people from Tripura who were stranded in Bangladesh amid lockdown restrictions returned through Agartala Integrated Check Post (ICP) Thursday. The returnee men women and children, many of whom are students of medical colleges in Bangladesh, were taken to a quarantine facility in Camper Bazar locality near here.
India’s High Commissioner at Dhaka Riva Ganguly Das accompanied stranded people upto Agartala ICP where they were received by Lok Sabha Member from west Tripura Pratima Bhowmik.
Ms Ganguly stated that total 230 stranded people from Tripura, Manipur, Assam and Meghalaya were returning to India through three ICPs in northeast India including Agartala.
Tripura government is also preparing to receive some 40 people from Kuwait and few other mid-east countries.
Senior Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced people returning from foreign countries would compulsory stay at a quarantine facility for 14 days.
Coronavirus cases in Tripura already soared to 242.
