Squall lashes Agartala, other places in Tripura

AGARTALA, May 27 2020: Cyclonic storms coupled with incessant rains lashed Agartala city and several other areas in Tripura Wednesday. However casualties not reported from anywhere.
The squall uprooted big trees in the capital city including the posh vicinity where residences of Chief Minister and other ministers are located. Falling of trees and storms tore electricity transmission lines leading to outage in a vast area.
Speedy winds damaged a few hundred houses across the state.
Besides, incessant rains caused water logging at several locations. Water pump stations were activated to take out stagnant rainwater.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb took stock of the situation. He directed district administrations to support the affected people from SDRF scheme.
Deb also urged officials up to to village panchayat level to help out people in need.
