REGIONAL, December 01, 2024: The SMILE App, which has been launched Sunday on occasion of statehood day of Nagaland, is an initiative of the Nagaland Education Project—The Lighthouse (NECTAR) under the Department of School Education (DoSE). It is a comprehensive tool that utilises advanced technology such as facial recognition, time stamping, and geo fencing for marking attendance, leave applications and tracking their status.
The main goal of this initiative is to promote efficient administrative practices, improve data-driven decision-making, and foster a culture of accountability and transparency in the education system. The App is designed to be user-friendly and accessible to all employees, regardless of their technical skills.
Regular usage of the App will not only improve familiarity with modern technology but also contribute to professional growth and aid in transitioning Nagaland to a digital and data-driven system. Overall, the SMILE App will enhance data integrity and alleviate administrative burdens by addressing the challenges of proxy attendance and manual record-keeping, ultimately improving the overall management of school resources.
The SMILE App is set to become operational for schools at the start of the academic session in 2025 and for Department establishments on January 2, 2025.
