Shortage of professors: Tripura to appoint 400 plus in 3 categories

AGARTALA, January 10, 2025: The Tripura government has announced plans to improve the quality of education for students and address the shortage of professors across the state. The government will appoint 200 Assistant Professors and 12 part-time professors with a proposal for an additional 201 Assistant Professors.
Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has been advised to initiate the recruitment process, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said Friday during the opening day of the state assembly's winter session.
Currently, the state has 31 General Degree Colleges with 72,009 students and 787 PGTs, Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors. To ensure continuity of studies without disrupting classes, 710 guest lecturers have been appointed, Chief Minister stated.
As per the UGC 2023 guidelines, current teachers and professors are fulfilling their duties, and Master's Degree courses have been implemented in six General Degree Colleges.
