Tripura Commission for Women conducts on-the-spot investigation

AGARTALA, June 06, 2024: The Tripura Commission for Women conducted an on-the-spot investigation Thursday in response to a news media report about the sexual exploitation of a young girl by a moneylender. The commission's Chairperson, Jharna Debbarma, along with Member Anita Das and Councilor Reba Das Sengupta, visited the Benia Tila area under Kakraban police station to investigate the incident.

The delegation interviewed the victim, her father, local residents and the Garjan Mura Panchayat chief. All of them, including the victim, demanded strict punishment for the perpetrator of the crime.

The delegation also met with the local police administration and urged the swift arrest of the accused who is currently absconding. The commission's chairperson expressed deep concern over this heinous act against a woman.
