NEW DELHI, September 21, 2025: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs is studying the implications of proposed restrictions on the US H1B visa programme including the impact on Indian industry. The ministry's spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal Saturday emphasised the importance of innovation and creativity in both countries and expects consultation on the best path forward.

He noted potential humanitarian consequences due to disruptions for families and hoped that US authorities would address these issues. Jaiswal also highlighted the significant contribution of skilled talent mobility and exchanges to technology development, innovation, economic growth, competitiveness and wealth creation in both countries.

Policymakers will assess recent steps considering mutual benefits including strong people-to-people ties, he added.
