Several of 10323 terminated teachers detained

AGARTALA, July 30 2021: Police detained several members from the group of 10323 retrenched teachers here Friday for violating prohibitory orders imposed to check spread of Coronavirus in Tripura. The former teachers who lost job by an order of the Supreme Court for gross breach of recruitment policy were demanding fresh employment.
The teachers were recruited during erstwhile successive CPI(M) led left front governments in the state.
Protestors gathered around the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near the old Raj Bhavan to press their demands. Security personnel intervened after the assembly was declared unlawful as per provisions of Covid-19 linked restrictions.
The terminated teachers earlier rejected a proposal of the incumbent state government to appear in interviews for getting absorbed in Group –C and Group –D jobs. They instead demanded direct recruitment in service.
