Second wave of Covid-19: Infections surge in Tripura

AGARTALA, April 16 2021: Tripura government has ordered an indefinite closure of schools and colleges in wake of surge in Covid-19 cases. They will however conduct scheduled examinations with 50 percent attendance of teachers on alternate days.

State’s education minister Ratan Lal Nath announced the decision Friday and said the closure of all educational institutions irrespective of private and government will be effective from Saturday.

He said government has not yet taken a decision on holding examinations under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) scheduled for next month.

Minister Nath said coronavirus situation in Tripura has not reached to an alarming proportion, but government is duty bound to adopt precautionary and protective measures to ensure that people are not harmed.

He informed that 93 percent of frontline workers have been vaccinated. On the other vaccination of people above age of 45 has taken a pace across the state, he stated.
