Police arrest one for spreading fake news on social media

KOHIMA, July 17 2021: Wokha Women Police apprehended one lady for circulating fake news and rumor on social media. A police official said the accused on July 11 uploaded a very disturbing picture and voice message of a patient in serious health condition, stating that the matter happened after the patient had Covid-19 Vaccination.
The post went viral creating panic among the people because of her negative comment coupled with picture.
Police after thorough investigation found out that the news was faked and it was never related to Covid-19 vaccination. In this connection, one lady was arrested and a case has been registered against her at Wokha Women Police Station vide PS case No-7/2021 and forwarded her to judicial custody.
ADC, Wokha, Lankonsen Tsanglao, lauded the Wokha Police for the prompt action in apprehending the accused person, and urged people to restrain from spreading fake and unconfirmed news and urged them to forward any information to District Helpline Number-9863663885 for any query and verification.
He also called upon the people to help the authorities during such trying times as the Government is doing its best for the safety of the community.
