Passenger detained for attempt to open emergency door
Incident occurred mid-air on a Guwahati – Agartala IndiGo flight

AGARTALA, September 21 2023: A passenger traveling on IndiGo flight 6E 457 from Guwahati to Agartala tried to open the emergency exit door cover prior to landing at MBB Airport in Agartala Thursday. Police said they have arrested Bishwajit Debnath, a resident of Jirania, east of Agartala.
There has not been any confirmation at what point the accused made the attempt to unlock the door during short duration journey. The crew reportedly noticed the attempt and raised an alarm.
Witnesses said a few passengers roughed up Debnath after the flight made a final halt at the tarmac of MBB Airport at 1.11 p.m. The CISF unit of the airport handed unruly passenger to the police.
The corporate office of the IndiGo at Gurgaon issued a statement to give its official version. It regretted for “any inconvenience caused to the other passengers.”
