Pandemic: Bangladesh to go for 7-day lockdown

DHAKA, April 03 2021: Bangladesh government announced a week long countrywide lockdown from Monday to contain spread of coronavirus. The lockdown period can be expanded if health situation further deteriorates, officials said.
Bangladesh’s Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader Saturday announced the decision of lockdown. He however said that the industries and factories will function with restricted number of workers.
Similarly no curb will be enforced on emergency services.
The announcement of a seven-day long lockdown was made on a day the country logged 5,683 new cases. The virus tally in the country now stands at 630,277.
On the other death toll spiked to 9,213 with 58 more fatalities registered in past 24 hours.
Total recoveries from infection are 549,775.
