Over 82 percent turnout in Assam’s 3rd phase polling

GUWAHATI, April 06 2021: The third and final phase polling of Assam Assembly Election today recorded an estimated turnout of 82.28 per cent when the poling came to an end at 7 pm. It happened to be highest turnout among the all three phases of polling.
The third and final phase election was held across 40 constituencies in the state.
The voter turnout in the first (47 constituencies) and second phase (39 constituencies) polling in Assam election were recorded at 79.97 percent and 80.96 percent respectively.
The final polling percentage of the third phase polls is expected to go beyond the estimated percentage (82.28 percent) reports from remote polling stations in some of the constituencies was still pouring in.
Kamrup Metro, on the other hand, recorded a relatively lower voter turnout of 74 percent till 5pm even as the percentage will eventually rise.
Approximately 40,000 polling personnel have been deployed in the third phase.
A total of 79,19,641 general electors and 26,460 service voters were registered to exercise their franchise in the third phase of Assam Assembly polls and decide the fate of 337 candidates, including 25 female candidates.
Polling took place in a total of 11,401 polling stations, of which 149 were model polling stations.
