Not issued threat against media, false propaganda: Biplab

AGARTALA, September 15 2020: Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb Tuesday dispelled air amid controversy over some of his remarks during one of his public speeches recently. He clarified that he never threw threat against news media or journalists, and a misinformation is being unnecessarily circulated.
While discussing some issued with leaders of Tripura Electronic Media Society at his office, Chief Minister said in that particular speech he was trying to highlight issues concerning menace of coronavirus suggesting that no one including media should create panic over the pandemic.
He said a few media were spreading panic amongst people through publishing exaggerated news on certain aspects of treatment and casualties. As head of the government he sought cooperation from everyone including mass media.
Chief Minister was visibly upset for the manner in which a controversy has been created amid pandemic situation. He however evaded from naming and blaming anyone.
Biplab Kumar Deb gave assurance to the electronic media leaders to consider their demands. He also assured of setting up a Press Club at Khumulwng, headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
