GUWAHATI, July 11 2020 (HS): Northeastern states along with Sikkim are witnessing surge in Covid-19 cases. Although the recovery rate in the region is relatively good still state governments are taking stringent measures to contain the spread of virus.
Assam holds the top position with 15,537 Covid cases followed by Tripura (1935) and Manipur (1582).
In last 24 hours, 1297 new Corona positive cases were reported in northeast states. Here, total tally mounts to 20,662, out of which 12,710 recovered. 743 patients recovered and 7,882 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals during the period.
40 people died with Assam topping the fatality chart.
Assam recorded 936 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, taking the toll to 15,537. Of these 9,848 patients recovered and 35 deaths were reported. In the last 24 hours, 701 patients recovered and 5650 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Three people left to their native states.
Tripura reported 141 new Covid-19 cases pushing the toll to 1935. Of these 1,338 patients recovered, 578 patients are undergoing treatment and one died.
132 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in Manipur taking the toll to 1,582. Of these 832 patients recovered. In the last 24 hours 33 patients recovered while 750 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
Nagaland reported 59 new Covid-19 cases pushing the toll to 732. Of these 304 patients have benn cured and 428 undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
Arunachal Pradesh reported 33 new Covid-19 cases taking the toll to 335. Of these 120 patients recovered, 213 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals and two died.
Meghalaya recorded 73 fresh Covid-19 cases pushing the toll to 186. Of these 45 patients recovered, 139 are undergoing treatment and 2 died.
Mizoram recorded 23 new Covid-19 cases taking the toll to 226. Of these 143 patients have recovered and 83 undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
No new Covid-19 cases were found in Sikkim in last 24 hours. There are 134 Covid-19 cases in the state, out of which 80 patients recovered. As many as nine patients recovered in last 24 hours and 41 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
