Nepal once again thrown into a serious political crisis
Eight members of the Council of Ministers have resigned

SOUTH ASIA, July 04, 2024: Nepal has once again been thrown into a political crisis as the CPN (UML) has withdrawn its support from the collation government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. As a result, eight members of the Council of Ministers have resigned.
President Ramchandra Paudel Thursday assigned Prime Minister Prachanda to take on the responsibilities of the eight ministers who represented the CPN (UML) in the existing Council of Ministers.
The eight ministers who have resigned are Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Raghuveer Mahaseth, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Padam Giri, Agriculture and Livestock Development Jwala Kumari Saha, Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Balram Adhikari, Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari, Women, Children and Senior Citizens Bhagawati Chaudhary, Water Supply and Sanitation Rajendra Kumar Rai, and Minister for Defence Hari Prasad Uprety.
Meanwhile, ministers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, including Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane, Labour Minister Dol Prasad Aryal, Youth and Sports Minister Birajbhakta Shrestha and Education Minister Sumana Shrestha have decided not to resign immediately, citing the prime minister's request for their continued service.
