Neiphiu Rio inaugurates Meluri as the 17th district

District's rich natural and cultural wealth was highlighted

REGIONAL, February 21, 2025: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio Friday inaugurated Meluri district as the 17th district of Nagaland. In his speech, he congratulated the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) and its leadership for their support in recommending and issuing the "No Objection Certificate" for the district's formation.

Rio also highlighted the district's rich natural and cultural wealth including Shiloi Lake, Tizu River and the Trade Centre at Avakhung. He stressed the district's economic potential as a newly formed district.

The inauguration ceremony included the unveiling of a monolith and the Multidiscipline Sports Stadium. Short speeches were delivered by various officials, including the President of Chonpa Jury, the Deputy Commissioner of Meluri and the President of Chakhesang Public Organisation.

The event also featured cultural dances performed by various organisations.
