Navy says committed to rebuild statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji
To form joint technical committee to probe fall of statue at Rajkot Fort

NATIONAL, August 29, 2024: The Indian Navy has Thursday announced the formation of a joint technical committee with representatives from the Maharashtra state government and technical experts to investigate the reasons behind the fall of the Statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort in Sindhudurg.
Exceptional weather conditions are cited as reasons for the damage.
The statue was unveiled on December 23, 2021 as part of the Navy Day celebrations in Sindhudurg to honor the legacy of the Maratha Navy and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in maritime defense and security. The Indian Navy has stated its commitment to assisting in reinstatement of the statue.
