Mission Mausam: Dr Jitendra Singh chairs the review meeting
He urged officials to expedite procurement and installation timelines

NATIONAL, November 27, 2025: Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and PMO Dr Jitendra Singh Thursday chaired a review meeting at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding the 'Mission Mausam' initiative. He urged officials to expedite procurement and installation timelines as this flagship programme was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting included discussions with the Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences Dr M Ravichandran and various senior officials and scientists, who provided updates on procurement status and infrastructure readiness for the implementation of observational and radar systems nationwide.
Dr Singh underlined that Mission Mausam marks a significant enhancement in India's weather forecasting and climate monitoring capabilities, underscoring the importance of timely execution for improving early warning systems and disaster preparedness. He directed that procurement processes should be transparent and efficient, aligned with global best practices and called for listing installations in critical areas while adopting advanced tracking mechanisms to monitor progress.
The Union Minister expressed optimism that the collaboration between IMD and the Ministry would lead to the successful achievement of the mission's targets within the set timeline.
