Jishnu Dev Varma sworn in as the Governor of Telangana
Oath of office was administered by High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe

NATIONAL, July 31, 2024: Jishnu Dev Varma, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, was sworn in as the Governor of Telangana Wednesday. His appointment was announced on July 27.
Varma, who joined the BJP in 1993, previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura from 2018 to 2023. However, he lost the Assembly election in 2023 from Charilam constituency in Sepahijala District.
The oath of office was administered by High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy and leaders from the BJP, Congress and BRS were present at the ceremony.
Jishnu Dev Varma is the fourth Governor of Telangana and all three previous Governors since the state's formation in 2014 were from neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha congratulated Varma on his assumption of office of the Governor and wished him a successful tenure in Telangana.
