NATIONAL, April 28, 2025: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh Monday briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. India has promised severe punishment to those involved in the strike, citing "cross-border linkages" to the incident. 

The Prime Minister earlier assured affected families that they would receive justice. 

India announced punitive measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the shutting down of the only operation land border crossing at Attari and the downgrading of diplomatic ties. Pakistan shut its airspace to Indian airliners and suspended all trade with India, including through third countries.
