GLOBAL, January 13, 2025: India has Monday summoned Bangladesh's acting High Commissioner, Nural Islam, to convey to his country that New Delhi has followed all protocols in the construction of fencing along the border between the two countries. This action was taken after the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, was called in by the country's foreign ministry in Dhaka to express "deep concern" over the activities of the Border Security Force.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that India has adhered to all protocols and agreements between the two governments regarding security measures at the border.
India’s MEA said it expects Bangladesh to also uphold previous understandings and adopt a cooperative approach in addressing cross-border crimes. Various measures, such as barbed wire fencing, border lighting, technical devices and cattle fences are being implemented to prevent infiltration, border crimes and smuggling.
