India - Sri Lanka joint exercise Mitra Shakti Xi 2025 commences

GLOBAL, November 10, 2025: The Eleventh edition of Joint Military exercise "Exercise MITRA SHAKTI 2025" has commenced at the Foreign Training Node in Belagavi, Karnataka, running from November 10 to 23. The Indian contingent, comprising 170 personnel primarily from the RAJPUT Regiment, is joined by a Sri Lankan contingent of 135 personnel mainly from the GAJABA Regiment alongside 20 and 10 personnel from their respective air forces.
This exercise focuses on rehearsing Sub Conventional Operations as outlined in Chapter VII of the United Nations Mandate, emphasizing joint responses to counter-terrorist operations. Participants will conduct various tactical actions, including raids, search and destroy missions and heliborne operations, as well as engaging in the Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting, and Yoga.
Technological aspects will also play a role, involving the use of Drones and Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems, with exercises planned for securing helipads and casualty evacuation during counter-terrorist operations. A primary goal of the exercise is to enhance interoperability among troops while ensuring the protection of life and property in alignment with UN peacekeeping objectives.
Both countries aim to exchange combat skills and joint drill practices, promoting mutual learning and sharing best practices to strengthen defence cooperation and fortify bilateral relations between India and Sri Lanka.
