KOHIMA, January 23 2023: Nagaland government has directed privately managed schools not to sell text books at a price more than the printed price by affixing new stickers. It cautioned them not to indulge in ‘unethical practices’.
State’s school education department has issued the notice acting on complaints against a section of the private schools. It said to have noticed ‘few’ schools are selling textbooks by tempering the original price sticker.
The notice warned them to refrain from the ‘unethical’ practices.
The department warned the private schools not to indulge in coercion on the students and parents to buy books, stationery items and uniforms from the school premises. The schools have also been directed not to advise the parents and students to purchase the items from ‘specified vendors’.
The notice alerted that appropriate lawful action would be initiated against the school head and Management if the order is disregarded. The concerned officials have been told to pay random surprise visit to schools under their jurisdiction to ensure strict compliance of the directives.
