NATIONAL, September 15, 2024: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has Sunday announced his resignation as the chief minister of New Delhi's regional government following his release from prison on bail in a corruption case. Kejriwal, a former anti-corruption crusader, has served as Delhi's Chief Minister since 2015.
He was granted bail by India's Supreme Court and left prison the next day, six months after being detained for alleged irregularities in the city's liquor policy. He was bailed on a million rupee bond on conditions that he would not comment on the case's merits, visit his office and refrain from signing official files.
Kejriwal is a fierce critic of BJP and his party, AAP, is part of opposition INDI Alliance.
