Free services to children affected by congenital heart disease
CM opened first state-level screening camp held in coloration with Apollo

AGARTALA, July 04, 2024: The Tripura government has announced plans to provide free medical services to children affected by congenital heart disease. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha made the disclosure during the first state-level screening camp for Congenital Heart Disease in collaboration with Apollo Children's Hospital, Chennai here Thursday.
He stated that the state government's goal is to ensure a healthy and normal life for children affected by such congenital physical problems. Dr Saha mentioned that there are 44 dedicated mobile health teams in Tripura that screen children from zero to six years of age daily, and screen children from 6 to 18 years of age in government-aided and private schools.
Under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, the state government provides primary care and surgery to children born with birth defects such as congenital heart disease, hearing impairment, clubfoot, visual impairment and neural tube defects. The State Child Health Programme also offers primary treatment for congenital problems such as clubfoot, visual impairment and neural tube defects.
Chief Minister further said over 1,021 treatments performed in the state, including around 2,000 cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries. Besides, 630 cases of congenital heart disease, 40 cases of clubfoot and 15 cases of neural tube defects have been treated and operated.
The Apollo Hospital officials have assured that they will come to the state to provide treatment to children suffering from congenital heart disease as much as possible. The joint initiative is to help children with such congenital problems live healthy and normal lives in the future.
