First kidney transplant in Tripura to take place on July 8
Dental college development received Rs 202 crores allocation

AGARTALA, July 06, 2024: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced that the first kidney transplant at GB Hospital, the teaching hospital of Agartala Government Medical College, is scheduled to take place on July 8. He also mentioned that the hospital has recently opened nine super specialties, costing around Rs 180 crores.
The Chief Minister shared this information while inaugurating a two-day training camp for state-based dental surgeons of the National Oral Health Programme organised jointly by the National Health Mission and the Indian Dental Association at Prajna Bhaban in Agartala Saturday. He further added that the Prime Minister's efforts for dental college development have resulted in an allocation of about Rs 202 crores.
The President of the Dental Council of India also praised the infrastructure of Agartala Government Dental College. During the event, the Chief Minister presented various statistics and launched two websites of Tripura State Dental Council and Agartala Govt Dental College and IGM.
He also inaugurated a tele-consultation facility in dentistry through e-Sanjeevani. Dr Saha acknowledged the challenges faced in building a dental college in the state, including opposition leaders filing complaints with the Prime Minister's office regarding the dental college faculty.
Despite these challenges, the state is establishing another medical college, and it is crucial to ensure that investors do not receive incorrect messages.
