AGARTALA, December 07 2022: Former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb made his presence felt in the Rajya Sabha in New Delhi Wednesday by highlighting issues of different subjects concerning northeast India as a whole and Tripura in particular.
The Rajya Sabha Member praised tireless efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ushering in a new era of development in the region by sparking off various projects and initiatives. While speaking before the new Chairman of the house he asserted that Tripura has huge potential in terms of archeological, cultural and heritage.
However, due to absence of an office of Archeological Survey of India, places of importance are not getting proper attention. He requested the union government for opening an office of ASI in Tripura which will be helpful to preserve, maintain and promote the historical and cultural sites, and ensure promotion of tourism.
Biplab Kumar Deb highlighted numerous such places of importance which require adequate attention reservation and maintenance.
Notably, former Chief Minister Deb was elected to Rajya Sabha in October last as a successor to Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha who briefly held the position.
