EJN's investigative story grant and training programme

GLOBAL, October 11, 2024: EJN is offering reporting grants to Indigenous and tribal journalists globally to support the production of investigative, innovative or enterprise reporting on environmental and climate issues.
Applications will only be accepted from Indigenous journalists or teams with an Indigenous lead journalist. About 5-6 grants with budgets between $2,500-$3,000 are expected to be provided for stories that investigate governments, corporations and other powerful actors, land rights and environmental sovereignty and explore solutions proposed or implemented to curb climate or environmental challenges.
Investigations using Right to Information requests or public data and maps are encouraged.

Indigenous voices fellowship
This one-year fellowship aims to support a cohort of eight Indigenous journalists, writers or storytellers from South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America to pitch and develop stories around tribal environmental movements, stewardship of forests and indigenous knowledge in conservation and nature-based solutions, beyond forest protection.
Applicants must commit to attending COP30 in Brazil and to delivering two articles – one investigative/on-the-ground/multimedia, and one desk-based – supported by a $2000 grant.
Applications can be submitted in Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish or Urdu.
