AGARTALA, July 25, 2025: Dr Manik Saha underscored the need to increase the funding cap for externally aided projects in Tripura to prevent halting development work. He criticised the previous state governments for destroying cultural and religious tourism assets of erstwhile royal families and stressed the BJP-led government's efforts in restoring and developing them.
Dr Saha stated that the state government is working with special priority on the development of the tourism industry and has allocated about Rs 7,000 crore for infrastructure development in this year's budget. He was speaking at the unveiling of the foundation stone for the development of tourism infrastructure at Kamalasagar and Chaturdash Devta Temple at the Kasba Kalibari Complex in Sepahijala District Friday.
The 13-kilometer-long road was developed at a cost of about Rs 34 crore, and now visitors can visit the temple in a short time. The government has given special emphasis to infrastructure development focusing on improving the quality of life and increasing employment through the development of the tourism industry, Dr Saha said.
Chief Minister highlighted the importance of ensuring the high-quality infrastructure development of religious tourist centers, such as the Bhadra Mela and the traditional 7-day Kharchi Fair and Festival that attract lakhs of people. The 51 Shakti Peeth Park in Banduar, Udaipur, was also laid recently and the tourism industry in Tripura will continue to grow through this development.
