Drinking water supply in every household by 2022

AGARTALA, June 29 2020: Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has directed the officials to ensure availability of drinking water to every household of the state by 2022. The scheme will be implemented under the Atal Jaldhara Yojana.
Chief Minister issued the directive while chairing a meeting to review functioning of the Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) Department Monday.
It has been decided in the meeting to complete drinking water supply to 3.20 lakh households in current fiscal. He instructed concerned department for speedy implementation of Atal Jaldhara Yojana.
Biplab Kumar Deb emphasised on need of increasing coordination between those heading Panchayats or Village Committees (in tribal district council areas) with the scheme implementation volunteers. He said the volunteers would get Rs 150 per connection which is estimated in total funding allocation amounting Rs 4.80 crore.
Officials informed that 1,71, 138 domestic water connections are functional in the state and of these 74, 862 connections are in rural areas.
