Doyen of Indian industry Ratan Tata passes away, he was 86
Former chairman of Tata Sons was also a philanthropist

NATIONAL, October 09, 2024: Ratan Naval Tata, the former Chairman of Tata Sons, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai late Wednesday night at the age of 86.
He was admitted to the hospital after experiencing a sudden drop in blood pressure and was later transferred to the intensive care unit due to his deteriorating health condition.
Tata took over as chairman in March 1991 and retired in December 2012. During his tenure, the Tata Group's revenues grew significantly, reaching USD 100.09 billion in 2011-12.
After his retirement, Tata returned as interim chairman and handed over the group to N Chandrasekaran in January 2017, assuming the role of Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons.
