NATIONAL, March 11, 2025: The Election Commission (EC) has invited political parties to discuss unresolved issues including allegations of dodging of electoral rolls. It has also requested suggestions from them by April 30 on these "unresolved issues." The EC has further proposed interaction with party presidents and senior members to strengthen electoral processes in accordance with established law.
It has instructed CEOs, DEOs and EROs of all states to regularly engage with political parties to resolve suggestions within the legal framework and submit an action taken report by March 31. The EC has urged political parties to proactively utilise this mechanism of decentralized engagement.
The issue of duplicate numbers has also been raised in Parliament with Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi calling for a discussion on voter lists. Trinamool Congress member Kalyan Banerjee has alleged that the poll body has failed in its duty to conduct fair and transparent elections in recent years.
