AGARTALA, June 26, 2025: Hailing from the remote village of Harina in South Tripura district, Dipraj Basu has become the pride of the entire state today. He scored 558 marks in NEET 2025 and achieved GEN-EWS All India Rank 933, which allowed him to get admission in India's top government medical college.
Behind this extraordinary success is the perfect combination of a mother's unyielding dream, a teacher's wisdom, and a student's dedication and hard work.
Dipraj had no father since childhood. The family consisted only of his mother, Dipali Dey, who raised her son single-handedly in Harina village in Sabroom subdivision of South Tripura. There, she used to teach small children and run the household, and continue Dipraj's studies. When he reached the ninth standard, they moved to Agartala so that he could study in a good school. When his mother returned to Agartala, she chose to work as a cook so that her son's dream would not be interrupted.
"My mother was my first teacher. Her selfless struggle, her never-give-up attitude has brought me to where I am today," says Dipraj. His education began at St. Francis de Sales School in Harina, where he developed a deep interest in biology. For the next four years, he studied at Shri Krishna Mission School in Agartala, and from there, he devoted himself to preparing for NEET.
This year's NEET was one of the toughest in recent times, especially in physics. Yet Dipraj scored more than 100 marks in that subject. The key to this success was Rajat Sir, an experienced physics teacher in Agartala, who is himself an alumnus of IIT Physics.
Now he does not just want to become a doctor, but also wants to contribute to the world of medical research and medical education. His goal is to give something back to society through development in the field of medicine and scientific practice.
Dipraj is not just a rank holder; that is proof that if dreams come true and you have the blessings of a mother and the guidance of a true teacher, then no adversity can stand in the way of success.
