NATIONAL, June 25, 2025: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has commissioned the new digital platform ECINET during the bye-elections in five Assembly Constituencies in Kerala, Gujarat, Punjab and West-Bengal. ECINET integrates over 40 of ECI's existing mobile and web applications, allowing for the timely and updated disclosure of election information for voters and stakeholders.
The platform has enabled the uploading of VTR trends directly by Presiding Officers (PROs) on ECINET, resulting in quicker sharing of information, increased transparency and reduced time lag in publishing VTR trends.
The technology-driven system also provided timely updates on voter turnout percentage trends. The introduction of ECINET has also resulted in faster publication of Index Cards which were made available within 72 hours of poll results declaration.
The Index Card is a non-statutory, post-election statistical reporting format developed by the Commission to promote accessibility of election-related data at the constituency level for all stakeholders.
The reports cover various dimensions, including candidates, electors, votes polled, votes counted, party-wise and candidate-wise vote share, gender-based voting patterns, regional variations and political party performance.
