AGARTALA, January 23 2021: CPI(M) Tripura state secretary Gautam Das express annoyance at the BJP for their apparent failure to restoring peace in TTAADC when the polls would be declared.
He pointed out that law mongers and insurgent groups in the tribal council areas are roaming freely resulting in rampant extortion notices to the contractors, ration shops dealers and traders of these regions.
Hitting out the government on the present situation high according to him was inappropriate for the polls. “where is the atmosphere to conduct polling freely”, Das wondered. “The HC was clearly stated hat the polls must be completed within May 17 next but as we have witnessed so far not a signal election during this 34 month have been done fairly”, said Das.
“Few days back we gathered in-front of Police Headquarters with a set of demands we wanted to place before the police chief of the state. DGP assured us that he would meet us later as he was busy with some official engagements but till he did not respond to our query exept a call in which we had been asked to meet IG law and order situation of the State. His behaviour proved that he was also heading in the same line of his government “, Das further said.
The party wants to make all his demands public before the media. “We demads freedom from each and every political party to carry out its activities. We demands security escorts for every MLAs who are being repeatedly prevented from entering their own constituencies. We also want that arrangements of security escorts should be done for the party functionary of oppositions as reports of attacks on its leaders have became a regular affair” he said.
In his demand Das also included restoration of about 100 TSR camps in the TTAADC that have been shifted elsewhere.
